Out of Province and Out of Country

Register New Vehicles

Please Bring:

  • Valid government issued photo ID
    • Lease or Bill of sale from an Authorized Dealer (no private sales).
    • Bill of sale must be dated within 90 days
    • Must be in the name of the person registering the vehicle
  • An original NVIS (New Vehicle Information Statement)
  • Proof of insurance please visit Vehicle insurance requirements (hyperlink) for more information
  • You must bring the car with you to the registry for a visual inspection
  • You will be issued a licence plate and registration on the same day

Register Vehicles Newer than 4 Model Years (current year plus the previous three model years) from Out of Province

Please Bring:

  • Valid government issued photo ID
  • Proof of BC, SK, or MB registration in the name of the person registering the vehicle (cannot be registered to a company or organization) please visit Vehicle from out of province in a company or organisations name (hyperlink) for more information
  • Proof of insurance please visit Vehicle insurance requirements (hyperlink) for more information
  • You must bring the vehicle to the registry to the office for visual inspection
  • You will be issued a licence plate and registration on the same day

Register Vehicles Older Than 4 Model Years with Government Issued Vehicle Inspection from Out of Province

Please Bring:

  • Valid Government Issued Photo ID
  • Proof of BC, SK or MB registration in the name of the person registering the vehicle
  • BC, SK or MB Government Inspection issued within the last 90 days
  • Proof of Insurance please visit Vehicle insurance requirements (hyperlink) for more information
  • You must bring the vehicle with you to the registry for a visual inspection
  • You will be issued a licence plate and registration on the same day

Vehicles from out of province (other than BC, SK and MB) or vehicles from BC, SK and MB that are older than 4 model years or vehicles from out of province in a company or organization’s name will require 2 visits to the registry.

First Visit

Please Bring:

  • Valid Government issued Photo ID
  • Proof of registration from out of province or Bill of sale please visit Bill of sale requirements (hyperlink) for more information

When you visit the office with the documents listed above, we will issue you a Request for Inspection form, you will need to visit a licensed mechanic and have them do an out of province inspection. There is no set fee for this inspection, it is up to the discretion of the mechanic, so it is a good idea to shop around.  Once your vehicle has passed the inspection you will return to the registry within 14 days.

 Second Visit

Please Bring:

  • Valid Government Issued Photo ID
  • Proof of registration or a bill of sale
  • Registration or bill of sale must be in the name of the person registering the vehicle
  • If the person cannot some into the registry their representative will need to bring an Authorization for Vehicles Services Form (hyperlink)
  • Proof of Insurance please visit Vehicle Insurance Requirements (hyperlink) for more information
  • Inspection Certificate
  • Issued by the mechanic when the vehicle passes inspection
  • Is only valid for 14 days

Pending all the correct information and documents, on your second visit you will be issued a licence plate and vehicle registration.

New Vehicles coming from the United States

Please Bring:

  • Valid Government issued photo ID
  • A bill of sale from a factory authorized dealer
  • Must be dated within the last 90 days
  • Must be in the name of the person registering the vehicle
  • Vehicle import form from Transport Canada displaying two stamps (not required if you used a Customs Broker)
  • Original Certificate of Origin or State Issued Title in the name of the client requesting to register the vehicle, or the name of the dealership the vehicle was purchased from

  • You must bring the vehicle with you for a visual inspection

Pending the presentation of full and proper documentation, youmayl be issued a plate and registration the same day.

Vehicles from Out of Country and Used Vehicles from the US (purchased over 90 days ago or purchased privately)

Will Require 2 Visits

First Visit Please Bring:

  • Valid Government issued Photo ID
  • Proof of Ownership such as a Title, Registration or Bill of sale please visit bill of sale requirements (hyperlink) for more information
  • Vehicle import form from Transport Canada displaying two stamps (not required if you used a Customs Broker)
